Oldies, but goodies

I actually did these pages well before we ever went on vacation, but never got around to posting them. The first is just a cute picture of Kate around 4 months old. I loved that little purple sweatsuit of hers! So cute and soft! The second page is just a glimpse of what daily life around here looks like. It's always good to utilize the skills of one child to balance the stresses of the other child :)

On a sort of related note, I've decided that I'm not going to scrapbook anything from 2008. Why? Because I'm an entire year behind and it's starting to feel more like a chore rather than something that I truly enjoy doing. Instead, I'm going to make a book online for the entire year, and then start back to scrapping with the start of '09 instead. This way the stories will be fresh in my head, and I can scrap what I feel like rather than being so overwhelmed! Once I get the book done, I'll scan it in so that you can still see that too!

2 months

I'm doing my best to not fall more than a full year behind. These are a few of my favorite pics from LAST September.

Grandparents are... LOVE

SEI's contest this month is with the Dill Blossom line, so I thought I'd use some of the paper that had been sitting in my corner forever! It's not really kid-friendly, but I think it turned out pretty cute! I had a lot more fun with it than I thought I would :)

One month page

I really should be cleaning my house and packing for the BEACH while the kids are napping, but I had to get this page finished - it was driving me nuts!! The paper is all from the SEI Sweetie Line - I bought it right after I found out I was having a girl. Love it! I think I had about 12 other pictures that I just couldn't fit on there quite right. I tried to pick my favorites and go with it. There are just too many :)

Happy Anniversary!

This is a quick mini-album that I did for an anniversary gift. The paper is the brand new Poppy Line from SEI.

Little Mini-Todd

This is probably one of my favorite pages that I've done lately. This picture just totally cracked me up, and the story to go with it is just classic Brett. The star paper is from American Crafts. The star stamps are all from Stampin' Up!

This is where I got the idea for the layout - it's from "Best of Becky Higgins Sketches" - I highly recommend it. There are tons of great ideas :)

Oh - here's the journaling:
Brett has always had a fascination with our computers, probably because he sees one of us on the computer ALL the time! So, when my computer finally died, we decided that he could use it as a “toy.” He thought this was GREAT. He just banged away on it, pretending to type, just like Mommy & Daddy. This was going well until one day he popped off two of the keys and tried to EAT them! Little Stinker! Needless to say, that was the end of his days as our computer genius!

A few scrapbook pages

I've finally started the kids' next scrapbook. These pictures are almost exactly a year old! Yes, I'm really that far behind! Here you go - enjoy!

Nana's Kids by DCWV - a great gender neutral find! I've had the paper pack for a long time and I've used almost the entire thing. The ladybug paper from Kate's invites came from the pack too.

Another great find at AC Moore - the paper was already done. I just had to add a few flowers and buttons and, of course, one of my favorite pics from Kate's first week home.

This is definitely NOT one of my favorite layouts, but it's still a cute picture of how happy Kate can be after a bath, even at a few days old :)

another baby card

I got this paper a few weeks ago and I couldn't wait to use it, so I made (another) baby card using the same basic design as Kate's birthday invites. I made the envelope with the coordinating paper to match.

birthday invites

I stole this idea from splitcoaststampers.com... I think they turned out pretty cute! Only 11 more to make :)

baby shower card

I'm trying to start doing cards myself - for lots of reasons - but mostly because it lets me play in my very own little space, and it's faster than doing an entire layout :)

This is one that I did for my friend's shower this weekend. All of the paper is from SEI's Scenery collection.

birthdays

Birthdays were always really important growing up in our house. My mom made a big deal out of each of our birthdays - even my sisters whose birthdays were only about 2.5 weeks apart. They each got separate birthday ordeals. Brett and Kate's birthdays are about 8 weeks apart, with my birthday sandwiched right in the middle. We just did Brett's birthday party yesterday. After a trip to the ER, we still managed to pull off the party on time, as scheduled, with a LOT of help from the fam! Brett's party was based on the movie, Cars, and he LOVED it! I'm trying to start planning Kate's birthday party, but I'm not sure what I want to do yet. Do we do princesses, or ladybugs, or just a generic pink 1st birthday theme??? Hmm... not sure yet. Of course, I'll do my own invites, etc. I just can't do store bought invites... apparently I like the extra work :)

In the middle of all of this birthday party planning, people keep asking what I want for my birthday. I haven't even given it much thought, honestly. Off the top of my head, here are a few "wants" - certainly not "needs."

  • New Vera Bradley Villager - I like the Peacock, Cambridge, and Java Blue patterns
  • More straps for my funky little flip flops - I already have blue, tan, and black with white polka dots
  • Gift cards always work, especially if I get time to shop without the kids :) My favs are Gap, Banana Republic, and Loft
  • Scrapbooking stuff!!! Archiver's, Michael's or AC Moore gift cards are fantastic!!!

Hmmm.. I'm sure there are probably more if I thought about it for more than 5 minutes. I'll let you know if I think up anything really great :)

In the mean time, I really need to start getting caught up on the kids' books. I can't believe that the last thing that I scrapped was Kate @ 3 days old. Gotta find the time to sit down and do it (without the kids standing on my toes!)

Welcome!

Welcome to my scrapbooking blog... I have TONS and TONS of scrapbook pages done that just need to get scanned in and posted, which I'll get around to doing - eventually. I'm in the process of posting Brett's 1st year album and the start of his 2nd year and the intro of baby Kate (note: I'm only through July '07 - I have some SERIOUS catching up to do)! I also have the Mother's Day albums that I did this year that I'm putting up. If you click on each individual slide show, it'll bring up the whole thing in a new window so that you can see big images. Happy scrapping! Oh, and you can leave comments too if you'd like.
